Homeward Bound

It’s 4:30am in London. Tomorrow I will be home. I’m in the May Fair hotel in London. The other day I was sitting in the lobby bar having a drink when a cross the street a million flash bulbs went off and someone sped away in a Mercedes. Paparazzi hopped onto his motorcycle and sped away after them. It all happened so fast. Nobody knew who it was. I think it’s the club that Guy Richie and Madonna have but after working in the film biz for so long celebrities do nothing for me. I was very impressed by the photographers and how quickly they worked!

I just finished an eleven day cruise with four days of work. It brought back some old memories and made some new ones. I made some new friends and even saw an old one! I was in the gift shop on the ship and saw this guy who looks familiar. Sure enough, it turns out I worked with him about five years ago on the Celebrity Horizon.

The ship I was on, the Carnival Splendor holds over 3000 passengers and is their newest ship. The whole ship is pink. It’s decorated with these things that look like tiger-striped pink donuts. Seriously. The interior design is bizarre. The interior design of one room to me was a cross between Doctor Seuss and Alien. There were things that looked like fried eggs on the ceiling and bubbles coming out of these ominous black crustaceans on the wall.

It was weird being a passenger on the ship and there was nobody my age. I made friends with the crew and especially enjoyed my time with the ladies from Hungary, Russia, England, New Zealand, and the Czech Republic. I miss them already and I dare say they miss me too! Ha, ha. Good times.

I did not get off the ship in Russia as you have to be on a tour and I had to actually work. I had been to St.Petersburg before when it was not mandatory to be on a tour. The passengers said the tours were crowded, rushed, and expensive.

It’s been an epic journey, both physically and emotionally. So much has happened. I’m looking forward to being at home. Seeing family and friends and getting to know my BBQ much better.

Thanks for reading.
